The Customer support industry is often related to Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO) companies. They provide customer support and sales services on behalf of some of the largest brands in the world. BPOs partner with international companies who have presences all throughout the world to ensure that the companies´ customer support and sales services are available to customers and clients in every language in which the companies work. These BPO companies make an agreement with the large brands, and then contract native and fluent speakers to assist the companies´ customers and clients in their native language, making user experience as comfortable and seamless as possible.
Work in a BPO offers candidate the opportunity to learn about and work for industry leading brands in sectors such as e-commerce, entertainment, social media, and more. BPO work consists largely of monitoring and addressing customer concerns and questions via phone, email, and chat-based support, and so requires excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Because BPOs provide services to customers in many languages, working in a BPO gives candidates the opportunity to experience an international and intercultural professional environment while working directly with a smaller team within their own language market.
