Iceland is a very special country. A country with stunning nature an a fascinating history. It is an attractive location for many looking for opportunities abroad. Iceland is known for a low unemployment rate, relatively high salaries and expensive living costs. Most jobs in Iceland can be found in the capital area, around Reykjavik and it is estimated that almost 70% of the islands entire population live in the capital region. A job in rest of Iceland might mean a job in fisheries, agriculture or tourism. In Iceland the largest sectors are the mentioned fishing and tourism but also manufacturing, especially aluminium. One of the biggest employers in Iceland is therefore tourism and the different job opportunities can include hiring tour guides, marketers, social media managers, writers and also for example drivers among other things.

The minimum wage in Iceland is 28000 ISK per month, which is around 2018 euros and the income tax is divided to two steps, under and over 927.087 where the tax is 36,94% for the first and 46,24% for the latter. Citizens of full member countries to the EFTA and EEA are able to live and work in Iceland without the need for a visa or work permit for three months. After three months, an individual must register their legal domicile and apply for a tax card.
