Born in France, Raised Everywhere: Milena's Road to International Recruitment
Milena grew up between France, Spain, the Dominican Republic, Sweden and Cyprus before eventually returning to Spain, this time as an adult. Growing up in several countries meant constantly adapting to new schools, new cultures and new people. While it wasn't always easy, those experiences taught her to be open-minded, resilient and comfortable stepping outside her comfort zone.
Today, those same experiences help her connect with candidates who are considering moving abroad to start a new chapter.
Why Málaga?
When deciding where to move, Milena compared several cities before choosing Málaga. For her, it wasn't just about the weather.
"I wanted somewhere I could build a future. Finding the right job, feeling safe and being closer to family all played a big part in my decision."
Her advice is simple: when relocating abroad, think beyond the destination itself. Consider your career opportunities, support network and the lifestyle you want to build. Although Spanish is one of Milena's native languages, moving to Andalusia still came with surprises.
"I grew up speaking Cuban Spanish, so I quickly realised that some of the words I used weren't common here. It was a reminder that even when you speak the language, every region has its own culture and way of communicating."
It's a small example of something many people experience when relocating: adapting doesn't stop once you've learned the language. Milena's journey into recruitment was anything but traditional. She had previously been in contact with Nordic Jobs Worldwide while planning her move to Spain, but accepted another role instead. Later, she walked into the office, introduced herself and stayed in touch. When the timing was right, she joined the team.
That experience shapes how she works with candidates today. She knows that every relocation is different, and that changing countries can feel exciting and overwhelming at the same time. Her goal is to make the process as straightforward as possible by being honest, approachable and supportive from the first conversation to the final job offer.
